Sculptra® is a biostimulator made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biodegradable synthetic polymer that has been used in medical applications for decades. It stimulates your body's own collagen production, gradually rebuilding the structural support of your skin without adding immediate volume.

Sculptra can help to address facial volume loss and improve skin firmness, with results developing gradually over several weeks to months.

Treatment is tailored to individual facial anatomy, the degree of volume loss and the desired outcome. A course of treatments may be recommended, and results will vary between individuals.

01

Improved Skin Quality

Increased collagen production can help to improve skin firmness, elasticity and overall skin qualiy.

02

Gradual Improvement

Results appear natural and improvements develop progressively over several weeks to months, rather than providing an immediate volumising effect.

03

Long-Lasting Results

Results can remain visible for up to two years or longer, although individual responses and treatment requirements vary.

04

Minimally Invasive With Little Downtime

Return to your daily activities 24-48 hours after treatment.

The Benefits Of Sculptra®

FAQs (Sculptra®)

  • Sculptra® is typically used to address facial volume including the cheeks, temples, and lower face. It can also be used in certain areas of the body, including the neck and arms.

  • Mechanism: Sculptra stimulates collagen production rather than adding instant volume.

Result: Gradual, subtle improvement in structure and firmness.

Initial Treatment & Maintenance: 2-3 treatments are typically carried out, 4-6 weeks apart. Sometimes a maintenance treatment between 12-24 months after the initial course of treatments is recommended for best results and longevity. Although Sculptra stimulates your body to produce new collagen, this process isn't a one-time fix as our natural collagen production declines with age, so maintenance sessions are often needed.

Longevity: Effects build over time and can last longer than some standard HA filler treatments. Typically around 2 years, and sometimes up to 3 years.

Results and longevity will also vary, depending on many factors, including lifestyle, skin quality, and individual metabolism.

  • The effects of Sculptra develop gradually and may take several weeks to months to become visible. The degree of improvement varies between individuals and depends on factors such as age, skin quality, metabolism, lifestyle and the area treated.
Some patients may benefit from further treatment following review, while others may achieve satisfactory results after a single session.
Initial fullness seen immediately after treatment is due to the water content of the product and will subside within a few days. This is not the final result.

  • Sculptra results are generally long-lasting, often remaining visible for up to 2 years. Longevity varies depending on factors such as your body's collagen response and the number of sessions completed.

  • Most patients find the treatment very manageable. The product is mixed with local anaesthetic, and administered using cannula to provide extra comfort.

  • Common side effects include temporary swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness and discomfort at the injection sites.

As with any injectable treatment, there are additional risks, including infection, lumps or nodules, which may develop weeks or months after treatment. Less commonly, inflammatory reactions or more serious complications can occur.

A full assessment and discussion of the potential risks, benefits and limitations of treatment will take place during your consultation.

  • Most patients require a course of 2–3 treatments, typically spaced 6 weeks apart. The number of sessions and vials required will depend on individual factors, including the degree of volume loss, treatment goals, age and response to treatment. This will be discussed during your consultation.

  • Downtime is minimal. You may experience mild swelling or tenderness for a short time, but most people return to normal activities the same day. Following aftercare instructions, including gentle facial massage, is important to ensure best results. Your practitioner will discuss this with you.

  • A consultation is required for all new patients to the clinic. If you have been seen my our other practitioners working in the clinic, a consultation will still be required if visiting Sarah for aesthetics treatments for the first time.

If you are an existing patient but wish to discuss alternative treatments, please book a consultation so we can assess your suitability and talk through treatment options.
